Nikkei 225 little changed post-BOJ, rest of Asia mixed
The Asian stocks traded mixed for the second straight session this Tuesday, lacking direction as well as momentum amid thin liquidity, as most traders remain on the side-lines ahead of the holiday-week leading up to the New Year celebrations.
While the Japanese stocks showed little reaction to the BOJ’s steady policy decision, although turned positive after the bulls cheered BOJ’s upgradation to the economic assessment.
Moreover, slightly dovish tilt in the RBA’s monetary policy minutes lifted the sentiment around the Australian markets, while the Chinese equities extended losses looming concerns over capital outflows and tightening liquidity.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Nikkei 225 trades +0.12% higher at 19,413, the Australian S&P/ASX 200 gains +0.45% to 5,587. The Chinese equities kept losses, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite index down -0.52%, while CSI300 index trades -0.55% lower. Hong Kong markets dropped -0.33% to 21,760 levels.
