Flash: EUR/USD broad-based USD theme intact? – TD Securities

FXstreet.com (New York) - The TD Securities Team analyzes the outlook of the EUR/USD with respect to recent events around Europe and the US.

Key quotes

Macro events in the developed world were mostly minor recently, with little in the Asian session and only second readings of GDP for Germany and the UK through the European session.

However, “more interesting for markets though were comments from the ECB’s Nowotny, who remarked that the recent improvement in Eurozone data further diminishes the argument for another policy rate cut.”

“This initially helped EUR/USD, but the broader USD strengthening theme has dominated since, leaving the pair trading overall neutrally, as it has for essentially two weeks now (roughly 1.33/1.34 range).”
